Who we are and how to contact us

First Class Writers ("we", "us", "our") is a UK-based online education provider. You can contact us at Founder@firstclasswriters.com. Our place of establishment is the United Kingdom.

First Class Writers is the data controller responsible for your personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have over it.

What personal data we collect

Account data: your name and email address when you create an account.

Course data: your lesson progress, video position, self-review answers, completion status and certificates, so we can deliver and personalise your learning.

Messages and reviews: the content of any messages you send us or other students, and any review or testimonial you submit.

Contact enquiries: your name, email and message when you use the contact form.

Payment data: your purchase is processed by Stripe. We do not see, access or store your card number; Stripe provides us with a transaction record and your email for receipts and entitlement.

How we use your data and our legal bases

We process your data to: create and manage your account; deliver course content and certificates; process and verify enrolments; provide admin-to-student messaging; respond to enquiries; send essential transactional communications such as purchase receipts; and maintain the security and integrity of the service.

Our legal bases are: performance of a contract (delivering the course you purchased); compliance with legal obligations (record-keeping); legitimate interests (operating and improving the service, and preventing abuse); and, where you give it, your consent (for example, accepting cookies).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Sharing your data

We share data only with processors that help us operate: Stripe (payment processing), our hosting platform (application and database hosting) and our email delivery provider (transactional email). Each processes data on our instructions under appropriate safeguards. We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

International transfers

Some processors operate outside the United Kingdom. Where your data is transferred internationally, we rely on UK GDPR transfer safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect it.

How long we keep your data

We keep account and course-progress data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time. Payment and tax records are retained for as long as the law and HMRC require, and messaging and review records are kept for as long as needed to provide the service and resolve disputes.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw any consent you have given. These rights are subject to certain exceptions.

To exercise any right, email Founder@firstclasswriters.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Our service is intended for learners aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your cookie preference. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. See our Cookies Policy for details and how to manage them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will publish the updated version here with a new 'last updated' date. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
